just the facts please
Wondering who to believe? Do you suspect that even your candidate misleads and exaggerates and, though it's hard to admit, lies? Check this out: http://www.factcheck.org
A non-partisan, non-profit project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania, they monitor the accuracy of the candidates speeches, ads, mailings, etc. This is a great site for people like me who often recognize bullshit, but who are sometimes lulled into believing things that reflect their own opinions. This site doesn't give anyone a free ride, and that's how it should be.
They also offer an RSS feed, so you'll be informed as things happen. Pretty cool, hunh?

the new traffic pattern
at the intersection of Erwin Rd. and 15-501

Oops, that's not it, it's here:

No, that's not a road, here it is:

Well that's closer anyway. His limbs are convoluted, his ass is vulnerable, and he looks concerned. That's pretty much how it feels to drive through.
Google Earth isn't up to date on the construction:

but try to imagine all four images combined and you'll experience the newfangled intersection in Chapel Hill. I'll post an up-to-date photo when Google points our way again.

another winner from "Shelf Check"
http://shelfcheck.blogspot.com/2008/01/shelf-check-176.html If this is nonsense to you, just watch five minutes of American Idol's premier tomorrow night and you will slap your knee and say, "Oh that Emily, she's a real hoot." I know I did.

fascinating!
Filmakers Lenka Clayton and James Price created this piece about first impressions. It's fascinating to see how we perceive each other so differently and make so many assumptions.
Here are a couple more of their films that are just as interesting: one on aging and another with couples in love.
(I found these through Mind Hacks, a blog I enjoy.)
